Katy Scoggin’s painfully sweet film Slavenka revisits some of the joys and mortifications of high school in the early nineties. Slavenka is a German exchange student determined to win the hearts of her new American classmates, but she finds out certain words don’t mean what she thinks they mean.
I designed textbooks and posters for Slavenka’s German class, none of which were intact by the time shooting was completed.
